Home away from home
Another home game, another loss. Last night my son told me the Astros are 7-21 in their last 28 home games and this morning I checked that (I trust him with numbers, but…) - it’s true.
Those 28 games date back to August 13 and a 2-1 loss to the Angels in the final game of a three-game series.
Tale of the tape:
8/13: Lost to Angels (0-1)
8/18-8/20: Swept (3) by Mariners (0-4)
8/21-8/24: Split 4 with Red Sox (2-6)
9/1-9/3: Swept (3) by Yankees (2-9)
9/8-9/10: Won 2 of 3 vs. Padres (4-10)
9/11-9/13: Lost 2 of 3 vs. A’s (5-12)
9/18-9/20: Lost 2 of 3 vs. Orioles (6-14)
9/22-9/24: Swept by Royals (6-17)
10/7-10/8: Split with Twins (7-18)
10/15-10/16: Swept by Texas (7-20)
10/22: Lost to Texas (7-21)

It'd be a shame if the story of the season boiled down to "gee, we just couldn't win at home," when there are so many more easily-explainable reasons or excuses that can (usually) be used! Short of the city building a new stadium before next season, that's a hard stat for coaches/mgmt to focus improvement around.
As for Tuck and Pena, I feel sorry for them, 'cause these two offensive cogs are obviously crushed that they've not been able to contribute to their potential in this series. Let's hope we take it AL (I love your wordplay, there, above!) tonight, thus rendering all my above gloriously moot.
