Déjà Vu
Just like in game 1, it’s Verlander vs. Montgomery in game 5, the final game in Arlington.
Montgomery outdueled Verlander Sunday, going 6.1 shutout innings, giving up 5 hits striking out 6 and walking 1.
JV was no slouch - 6.2, 2 runs (including a Leody Taveras home run), with 5 strikeouts and 2 walks.
Can either pitcher repeat their game one performance? We shall see.
This looks like a Chas game to me, based on the numbers below.
Pitching Matchups
Updated to include game 1 results.
Bullpen Usage
Can’t say enough about the job the bullpen did last night, saving leverage arms, covering 6.2 innings without giving up a run while allowing only 3 hits, striking out 5 and walking 2.
Hunter Brown covered three innings and gave up some hard contact, but managed to get through it without giving up a run.
This sets up the bullpen nicely for the final 3 games (if necessary).

Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez and Kyle Tucker are a combined 5 for 31 (.161) with 9 strikeouts and 0 walks against Jordan Montgomery.
Yordan Alvarez is 1 for 6 with 5 strikeouts vs. Montgomery.
Rangers that hit Ryan Pressly well: Marcus Semien (.462, all singles), Nathaniel Lowe (.375, all singles).
Pressly has given up 1 home run (only extra-base hit allowed) in 72 plate appearances against the Rangers (Mitch Garver) with an expected slash line of .224/.260/.334
