I probably should wait a few days and let the emotion die down, but I also want to get my thoughts out into the ether immediately after the Astros were eliminated.
Perhaps I knew it the entire season, but I’ve been more vocal over the last two or three weeks about how the 2024 Astros were a flawed team.
Every team is flawed to some extent and I can’t put my finger clearly on why (though I mention a few issues below), but I felt the postseason potential of this team was limited.
This team took 159 games to put away 85-win Seattle.
The offense had holes and disappeared at times. The bullpen wasn’t as good as statistics and talking heads said.
The defense was inconsistent, the pitchers walked too many batters and the staff had no ace.
I could go on.
The Tigers were more clutch, pitched better, hit better, played better defense and had the better bullpen.
Congrats to Detroit and their fans.
Over the offseason I plan to ask and attempt to answer questions about 2025 and beyond, of which there are many.
I started a list a week ago. That should have been a clue.
You can argue an era just ended and I wouldn’t disagree with what we know at this moment.
But things can change over the winter, for the good or the bad.
For now, I’m going to take a few days/weeks to recharge.
There are many ideas I want to implement here and more I want to do with this site. I started a list for that, too.
I’d be happy to consider any ideas you have to make it better or more engaging.
Reach out if you are so inclined.
Most of all - Thanks for reading.
