Season Projections
If Chas is out for any length of time, the Astros are in for a struggle.
As I pointed out yesterday, he’s hit well at leadoff, but more than that he’s an elite defender that can play all three outfield positions well.
If he’s unable to go, it’ll be interesting to see what the lineup looks like, because Jake Meyers looks lost at the plate.
Luis Garcia continues to struggle and one has to wonder if it’s the change in his windup.
Garcia, a 15-game winner in 2022, now projects to 12-9 in 2023.
Today’s Pitching Matchup
To say the Astros need a good outing from Hunter Brown is a bit of an understatement.
Bullpen Usage
4 arms were used yesterday, but only one was a fringe leverage arm (Stanek), while Abreu, Neris, Montero and Pressly had another day of rest.
K Prop
I’ve not been very good at this so far, let’s hope it changes today. My numbers show Brown at 5.16 and the market is at 5.5. No play for me.
Odds
Astros are -180, which is too expensive for a team playing like this one, especially with questions about Chas’ health. If I were impartial, I’d look at the Rangers +152.
Projected Standings
The A’s are brutal. Brutal.
May not mean anything note of the day
Martin Maldonado hit 4 balls over 100 MPH on Friday night.
