Composition of Projections:
2023 Actuals: 11.1%
Preseason Projections: 88.9%
Season Projections
A quiet night at the plate, with 8 hits, 7 of which were singles.
Luis Garcia has been on the struggle bus in 2023.
Today’s Pitching Matchup
Another matchup that historically favors Jose Abreu. Let’s see if it does tonight.
Bullpen Usage
A Ryan Pressly sighting where he only used 10 pitches means he should be available if needed, especially with the off day tomorrow.
K Prop
A little surprised at these numbers. Mine is at 6.15, while the market is at 5. This screams over.
Odds
Astros are -108, which Toronto is also -108. Interesting. The Astros are worth a shot with the juice this low. You know they want to win the series and all hands should be available in the bullpen.
Projected Standings
Rangers rolling.
May not mean anything note of the day
Usually, I put a number in this space, but today I opine on the decision to bring up Rylan Brannon instead of Justin Dirden. Perhaps there’s something I’m missing, but I don’t get it. I go into some detail in the Astros 162 below, but it seems to me the brass is making moves that leave the team weaker, first by keeping Salazar (wasted roster spot) and now to bring up a guy with 2 MLB innings at second base.
They’ve basically admitted that a) Korey Lee was better, but they wanted him to play every day. That makes complete sense. What doesn’t make sense is to keep Salazar instead of someone who would actually contribute.
Now, they bring up Brannon to replace an outfielder. Sure, Dubon can play center, but that leaves the team weaker at second, even if Hensley plays and Brannon sits.
In my mind, they’re basically wasting two roster spots.
