Composition of Projections:
2023 Actuals: 46.3%
Preseason Projections: 53.7%
Season Projections
Yainer Diaz making a push for more playing time.
Madris replaces Salazar on the roster. He’s an option at first base as started 8 games at the position with the Pirates last season, also seeing minimal time in left and center and starting 17 games in right.
Madris played 248 innings across the four positions (+3 games as DH) and committed 0 errors on 104 chances, with 63 of those coming at first base.
I’m dubious of Madris’ projections below, but the longer he’s on the Astros roster the more they’ll adjust.
Montero continues to struggle. Actually, that’s probably to light of a term.
Astros 162

Bullpen Usage
Huge day off as everyone but Dubin and Stanek used Wednesday.
Today’s Pitching Matchup
Neither J.P. France nor Emmett Sheehan has experience against anyone from the opposing team.
K Prop
The number for J.P. France is 4.5. No history, no bet.
Odds
Astros +124 and -160 +1.5. Both are tempting, but concerned about the Astros bullpen as Pressly has pitched a ton lately.
Projected Standings
The AL has been pretty steady, but shakeups in the NL Central and West.
Luck Rankings
The Marlins and their 18-5 record in one-run games and 3-1 in extras remain atop our luck rankings, while the Royals who have 5 wins less than they should remain at the bottom.
May not mean anything notes of the day
Opponents are batting only .152 off of J.P. France’s slider, but 4 of the 5 hits he’s allowed off the pitch have been home runs and the other a double. That means while only batting .152 off the pitch, they’re slugging at .545.
Martin Maldonado is slashing .133/.220/.222 in June.
Jake Meyers is slashing .149/.231/.255 in June.
